THE WHY
We're tired of not having full access to health information and health communication.
Because of this, the Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened community are at a higher risk for adverse health outcomes compared to hearing (non-deaf) Americans. There is one simple but significant thing that causes inequity and creates barriers: the lack of meaningful and effective communication.
Process has been slowly made, but the healthcare and medical systems still view us as something that needs to be fixed. We're actually proud of who we are with our beautiful language, community, and culture. We don't need to be fixed, we just need access.
The goal for Health Signs Center is to make health information accessible to YOU.
